ITS TIME TO CHANGE FROM FACEBOOK TO MYFRIENDS2U.COM.......

Nowadays, having any one of the social network account is something compulsory to each people.Even a kids of 9 years old also has their own facebook.Well.. we cant stop them from having a facebook because they are growing in the new world.A world that full of facilities, full of fun,a world that provide everything to them to access anything they want such as internet and also a world full of scary..you think by your own..:)We also can't stop them because maby their friends has a facebook and they also want to have their own facebook . .lets them..explore the world...

Having a social network account allow us to communicate with each other, update our profile to be notifying by our friends, sharing something to another person and one of the way to reduce the stress.Having a facebook for instance provide us not only a space to communicate and sharing but also to doing business such as promoting our product. Facebook also be a medium of our society to unite and our Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak also using it to receive any problem or complaint from people.Facebook do provide a games to the subscriber whereby they can play the games to having fun and reducing the stress. This is one of the attraction of facebook to the children and teenagers.

What I want to share here is actually about what type of social network account that you choose..is it owned by our Malaysian or by any one else that just trying to take advantage on us?By having all our information and secret then use it to attack us..?Most of the people didn't care about this.As long as it can fulfill their need and make them happy..thats enough..Many of us also know that a facebook it's an excellent created by a American-jew and they are is our most enemies till the end. They are doing their best to hurt feelings of Muslims in any possible way. From last few years European Christians are publishing Insulting Cartoons of our Beloved Holy Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him). They had also created many pages and groups against Muslims and Islam with insulting names. These have been reported to the Administrators of facebook, but they are not interested to delete those pages and warn those people who are spreading hatred. We actually realizing this matter and intended to boycott it,but its too hard to do it because a lot of our friends using it and it is a medium for us to keep in touch with each other and being united together. So, we ignore to delete the account, and at the same time ignore to boycott jews. For your information, every single account of facebook will contribute $5 to jews..think about it..we give them a lot and a lots of profits...just imagine..

Like a people say, to make changes is too hard, but its not impossible.Basically its depend to ourself.Changes only can be happen if we want it,we do it and not just thinking it day by day and nothing to do with it.If we want the changes in our life,we must do it until we success. But if we don't, its just will stay in our memories until we ready to do it.

Now Malaysia has introduced its own social networking called Myfriends2u.com and launched by Ministry of Youth and Sports about six month ago.It has been developed by local company ,Nexpert Sdn Bhd and owned by Malaysian. It just a replicate of facebook. Its function and features is almost similar with a facebook . We can chatting, playing games, give comment to other site and so on.The difference of this social network is that it provide special space to do business and called MyMarket Place which allow people to do on-line businesses.

Myfriends2u also provide a special space called MyCareer to find a job. Its usable to the graduates to find a suitable carrier for them. They can get an accurate information about their job from the company that have registered in this site. This site also not beneficial to graduates only, but also beneficial to the company as well to find the suitable candidate for their job vacancy. Its just like a bridge between the job seekers and the company. Both of them get the benefits from it.

Other than that, myfriends2u also provide blog, forum, question & answer, research, current info and so on.This site also create a special space for the students called a U Life to unite all the students of higher learning institutions from Malaysia and abroad. This can be a platform or a place whereby the Malaysian students can share any opinion, information, knowledge and experience with each other.

From the safety aspects, this site is well secured because everything that has been post to this site will be monitor by Nextpert Sdn Bhd to avoid any sensitive issues, politics and religion to be wrongly used by the irresponsible parties. For me ,this site provide alternative and substitutes to user especially Malaysian. You can choose myfriends2u as your social network..or having both account myfriends2u and facebook at the same time. The important thing about this site is that, it is our Malaysian products!and develop by our Malaysian! ..I suggest you to register for this site now and you may evaluate it by yourself..The choice is in your hand....:)

Latest Invention: Flexible E-paper from LG

As we already know, our world is flooded by so many news and every country has their own news and issues that they faced everyday and all this news are gathered in newspaper or in other mass communications like internet, television, radio and magazine including newspapers in order to communicate to people. Besides that, people in this world live with current issues and news in order for them to make sure that they are updated with new changes in their country especially in terms of technology and from these changes they will alert and beware for new coming devices or technologies in their country. So, now I will discuss some technology invention that already happen in South Korea in terms of replacement of traditional newspaper to the flexible e-paper from the well known brand that is LG.

As you can see the image, this is what I mean the flexible e-paper that already replace the traditional newspaper in South Korean. According to the infoniac.com, this device could save tons of paper, wastewater and considerably cut carbon emissions. So, from here indirectly LG can save their cost to produce the newspaper. In terms of its specification, LG has presented a model that has a 19 inch screen and just 0.3mm thick which is equivalent to five sheets of paper. But, the real device that will hit the market is going to have 11.5 inch display. In addition, this device weights is 130 grams and it is different from other e-readers due to the fact that it features a new technology that allows it to bend and return to initial shape.

So, what I can say from this information is when this device is created and already produced in the market absolutely it can generate high demand from the consumer in order to create high profit to the company. It can generate high demand from the consumer because as we already know that the characteristic of consumers is curious to know something new especially in terms of technology. Thus, from this they will take an advantage in order to know more details about the new product by purchase it from the market and according to the infoniac.com, this latest invention will appear in the first half of 2010. Besides that, it also can increase high consumer’s perception in terms of the brand name of LG because there are no other brands that create this kind and features like this flexible e-paper by LG. As a result, when LG brand comes to consumers mind they will expect high features from the brand itself. Besides that, in terms of employer they also can upload their news and issues in this e-paper easily without having difficulties because consumer can search anything about the current news and issues.

Furthermore, in term of its specification it will give good handling to consumers and it will make consumers easy to use or consume it. This is because based on its appearance and shape, it is same like traditional newspaper but the difference is it does not have many pages and section in order for consumer to turn into the next page but consumer can only turn the next page by touching the screen. For me, this is very interested issues regarding technology invention in term of information technology. In addition when the company creates this kind of device indirectly it will save and give good impact towards environment. Here means that based on the traditional newspaper it is made from paper and in order to get a paper the manufacturer got the raw material from trees or from the ashes of the woods. So, this is what we called harvesting of hundreds of millions of trees in order to produce paper. Now, LG brands have already take new alternatives to avoid this situation or environmental impact from happening without mercy towards nature.

For a conclusion, the expansion and invention of technology information system in our world will help most of people who are live in this world. In addition, it also will ensure that our life is very easy because all the information is in our finger tips.

Ethical issues in information age

NOR AKMA ABDULLAH
2009932277

Today in our societies more people are more employed collecting, handling, and distributing
information than other in any occupation, same with me!!.. Before starting doing my assignment, I need to collect as much information and everyday I check my email account, surfing internet, open my face book, twitter, and reads blogs. I think all of this activity becomes habit to the society. Our society is truly an information society?? Our time is information age??

The question is before us now is whether the kind of society being created is the one we want? It is a question that should especially concern those of use in the MIS community for we in the forefront of creating this new society??

Yesterday, when I read newspaper, I got news about the decreasing is sales of Utusan Malaysia newspaper, what it become interesting to me is the decreasing of sale very big…analyst say that the decreasing of that newspaper because people move to other medium in get information, they also say because change in politic scenario..is that true?? But why the sale of papers like Cosmo and metro was increasing?? Meanwhile this paper in same company…for me no comment!!.. What interesting to discuss here is society especially young generation move to reads blogs, facebook and twitter. They more choose this medium to reach information.

What I try to discuss here is if people more prefer this kind of medium, is that we can believe all the information?? Can we develop human intellectual capital??... can we protect from discussing about other people, touch about sensivity issues, and gossips?? For me it doesn’t matter how you got the information, or we write about story, issues and so on..the most important is when we revealed any information or when we find out any information we must deal with human dignity. On other hand the ethical issues is involved!! Now I want to share with you, that we need to analyze in term of what when we write or read any issues or information..

Firstly in term of privacy...we need to know what information about one’s self or one association must a person reveal to others, under what condition and with what safeguards? What things can people keep to themselves and not be forced to reveal to others..

Second is in term of accuracy, which is responsible for the authenticity, fidelity, and accuracy of information?? Similarly, who is to be held accountable for errors in information’s and how is the injured party to be made whole..

Thirdly is property of information…Who owns the information...is that fair to other people and who should access to the resources..

Last one is accessibility… what information does a person or an organization have a right or a privilege to obtain and under what condition??
As the conclusion…what ever it is…use our sense in write and read any information. Sometimes we can’t predict the consequences of our action..Information is important, but it depends how we use the information....

Is Social Media the New Black?

Erm... not really.

It is more than that. Social media is more than merely trendy or fashionable items. It has become an integral part of our lives. It has changed the way we communicate with others, and the way we assimilate information.

MY MOM AND THE FACEBOOK EFFECT

My mom didn't start Facebooking until i heavily lobbied her into doing so, almost a year ago. She was not too comfortable with about publishing her personal information on the Internet. But that was last time. The world is round, things change, and now, mom is really one Facebook Superstar - sharing things like "Selamat pagi semua. Hari ini SK Ampang akan mengadakan majlis berbuka puasa," or "akan pulang ke Felda Lubuk Merbau, Kedah hari ini'" or "baru lepas makan ayam masak merah yang anak masak. Sangat sedap." See. She's now comfortably sharing about where she works, and where her hometown is, and what she just ate, with the whole world. (Okay, I actually exaggerated the "sangat sedap" part. She never actually said that, alright). Her updates attract umpteen feedbacks, and when she’s not around for a couple of days, people will start looking for me to look for her. ^_^

My mother is so attached to Facebook that there was this one time I had to actually UPLOAD a picture of sambal telur that I cooked for our sahur and TAGGED her, just because she was so attached to her Facebook and refused to part from it. Well that’s one of the occasional "threats" Facebook brought to our family institution. My family institution. On top of those little threats, Facebook does good to my mom. It brought her back to her long lost friends from secondary school, and their bond is in fact getting stronger, with constant informal meet ups and formal gatherings.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND US

Our lives have been affected by the emergence of social media in many ways. If the idea of social media is still vague to you, here’s a cool video that explains it, in plain English (as they put it).

Click HERE to watch the video.

(The video literally explains to us what social media is all about, in a very interesting manner).

PLEASE WATCH IT, ITS REALLY INTERESTING!!

Cool video, isn't it. ;) So alright, how are our lives affected by the social media?

As end users, we have experienced it ourselves how social media made our lives easy (or complicated, depending on how we handle it) –
Facebook (a social network) connects us with each other, and allows us to know which friend is getting married soon, who just got a baby, who just bought a flashy sports car, and who just fell off a mango tree.

Blogger and Wordpress (blogs) let us share our longer version of stories. Flickr (a photography sharing website) lets us share our photos and see those amazing photos from others. YouTube (video sharing website) offer us those entertaining videos we never even thought exist! Twitter (a microblog site) lets us catch up with all the things we’re interested in, all in one simple interface. Oh, I L-O-V-E Twitter! Not to forget Wikipedia (a collaboration / authority building website), which answers our questions to virtually everything!

So that’s us now – living in the midst of Web 2.0 technology, surrounded by the waves of social media emergence. Access to information was never this quick and handy.

Businesses too, earn substantial benefits from social media – particularly in terms of brand building / positioning, marketing and advertising, which lead to favorable bottom line. Think about reaching millions
of target customers at very low (or no) cost!

SOCIAL MEDIA AS A BUSINESS TOOL

If you are a marketer, chances are, social media is a major agenda for you. Wide accessibility of information is the key to advertising through social media. Also, the cost can be substantially lower than the traditional advertising methods. It is THE way to advertise your business now. Try to check out this Business FM's website – it has a good collection of podcasts on social media (which might be useful to us all someday).

Facebook, Foursquare, YouTube and Twitter are some examples of social media platform that we can take advantages from – financially and non-financially.

“LIKE” FACEBOOK?

The “Like” button on Facebook is legendary. With more than 500 million active users, the market Facebook
offers is abundant. Studies show that advertisers on Facebook reported positive returns on investment.

For a start, we can use the free Facebook Page, Event, Application and Group to promote. If you are selling consumables like scarves, kuih raya, kids clothings and cupcakes, chances are, you will get a strong customer base if you advertise through Facebook. Almost everyone we has a Facebook account, right? So why not make full use of your account!

The “Like” function is very powerful. “Likes”, tags and comments have sporadic effect. On average, a Facebook user has 130 friends – so we all know what happens when you tag me on you photo, then I comment on it, then my other friend “Likes” it, don’t we? :)

FOURSQUARE

Foursquare is a location-based social networking website, that allows its users to “check-in” each time each time they arrive at a place, using mobile devices. The check-in notifications can be updated straight to Facebook and Twitter. If you’re a business owner, you can save your premise location info in Foursquare's database. You can also reward your customers based on their frequency of checking-in to your premises. Easy way to encourage customer loyalty, isn't it?

For me, I think foursquare works wonders on promoting restaurants. If people eat good food, I can almost guarantee that they will spread the words.

Individual users are also indirectly promoting your business each time they check-in, especially when they choose to broadcast their whereabouts in Facebook and Twitter. Better still, if they add remarks like “yummy fresh seafood – eat till you drop” when they check in at Flaming Steamboat in Bandar Sunway. If you are a constant food-hunter, you would feel sinful not to Google for Flaming!

Even better, if they embed a photo on their status updates. A photo like this is one example:

Clockwise From left: Te'ah, Hanee, Zana, Fizie, E and Wani (standing)

Such photo can tempt to check out the crime scene where you gobbled all those fresh prawns and scallops and what else, oh, that cute panda fish cake...

The interesting bit is (as you can see if you clicked the link above), a Google Map is attached to each location, so in Flaming’s case, your friend can easily track that crime scene and repeat the case. ;)

YOUTUBE and VIMEO

The easiest example of local-flavor power of YouTube is Zee Avi. Here’s what happened:

Shortly after posting self-styled videos on You Tube, singer songwriter Zee Avi woke up to 3,000 emails one morning. One offered her a recording contract with Brushfire Records. Since then, Avi left her home in Kuala Lumpur for Los Angeles. Avi performs melodic, melancholy songs tinged with irrepressible optimism.

(Source: http://vimeo.com/8267333)

If you’re passionate about performing arts, YouTube and Vimeo are great platforms to promote your works. More helpful if you really have the talent (*wink*). Of course, Zee Avi might be one-in-a-million kind of case, but that is how easily you can take the advantage of YouTube to promote your works, and eventually earn profit from it.

You can also use YouTube to show people “how things work”. Embedding a YouTube video on your advertisement page makes the content more interesting, hence, more convincing.

LET THE TWITTER BIRD TWEET THE NEWS

I’m not too sure if Twitter can be as highly effective (free) advertising tool for fresh businesses. Twitter effect is more visible if you’re some big shots – with thousands of millions (yeah, Ashton Kutcher has more than 6 millions) followers. But we also can benefit from Twitter. What I can suggest you do with a Twitter account is this – you can follow people or companies, whose information you’re interested in and/or benefit from. Your twitter app works like a "one-stop centre" for all the information updates.

As for me, I follow newspapers like Berita Harian and the Star and a few others. The bird will do the work - all the latest news are being fed to my Twitter app, and I only click on the link of the news that I am interested in. Following the Prime Minister's Office's Twitter was really helpful during the tabling of 2011 Budget, where there were real-time updates. The tweets came really handy for me (and many others) who did not access to the live broadcast on the television. In short, Twitter gives me a quicker access to information. Saves myself from visiting their separate websites, makes my life easy. Bliss, isn’t it. :D

My personal favorite is Harvard Business Review – they share cool management every so often – very simple, not the boring corporate-ish stuff. Good for side reading. Latest on my list are Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson (for the love of food, but I’m still a lousy cook, hehehe).

So my dear ladies and gentlemen, all in all, we can see that social media does more than allowing us to connect with each other. The technology allow us to boost our business potential. It’s easily accessible, and, most of the time, it’s free! Not to mention VERY interesting too! :D

So guys, lets leverage on the technology – promote your business on social media - Web 2.0 works wonders!

Signing off,

Weda

p.s.: Haven’t got enough of Facebook? Here’s more.
Social Network the movie, coming to a cinema near you. ;)

p.p.s: Something's wrong with the formatting. Already stuck here for hours just to work on the formatting. I surrender. So black-and-white it is... Hehe.

SixthSense

Ever you heard about sixthsense?? I am sure that everybody will assume that sixthsense is something like an additional sense that only some of us had it except of our five basic senses, seeing, feeling, smelling, hearing and tasting. Here i want to share some amazing story about new sixthsense that i ever thought from Youtube. It is about 'SixthSense' technology. 'SixthSense' is a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural hand gestures to interact with that information. This device was developed by a PhD student in the Fluid Interfaces Group at the MIT Media Lab. SixthSense is purposely developed to bridges the gap of digital devices and human interactions with the physical world. Even though people are now able to carry computers in their pockets which let us continually connected to the digital world but such technology has no link between digital devices and interaction with physical world. And amazing, Sixthsense brings information intangibly, and allowed people to interact with this information via natural hand gestures compared is was limited traditionally on paper or digitally on a screen before.

This power prototype is only comprised of four components which are a Camera (A webcam captures an object in view and tracks the user's hand gestures which sends the data to the smart phone), Colored Markers (Marking the user's fingers with red, yellow, green and blue tape helps the webcam recognize gestures) a Projector (A tiny LED projector displays data sent from the smart phone on any surface in view- object, wall, or person) and a Smart Phone (A web-enabled smart phone in the user's pockets processes the video data, using vision algorithms to identify the object).

The Sixtsense prototype implements secveral applications. The map application lets the user navigate a map displayed on a nearby surface using hand gestures, letting the user zoom in, zoom out or pan using intuitive hand movements. The drawing application lets the user draw on any surface by tracking the fingertip movements of the user’s index fing
er. Users also control SixthSense with simple hand gestures by putting their fingers and thumbs together to create a picture frame tells the camera to snap a photo, while drawing an @ symbol in the air allows you to check your e-mail and drawing a magnifying glass symbol takes the user to the map application. It is also designed to automatically recognize objects and retrieve relevant information such as hold up a book, for instance, and the device projects reader ratings from sites like Amazon.com onto its cover. With text-to-speech software and a Bluetooth headset, it can "whisper" the information to you instead.

There are pros and cons to have such emerging technology like SixthSense by this time. There are lots of advantages by having this new technology. This augmented reality becomes practically for day-to-day task
in a cheaper and portable equivalent when people could walk around with, projecting stuff all over the place, and interacting with the surroundings as well. People also can use it as useful comparison shopping or deciding whether to buy a book in a bookstore. There are also some disadvantages by having this technology in our real world. How people going to redefine privacy when people may simply recognized ourself by screening our shirt and will know our details and perhaps a negative rating about us. Moreover, the application to use any surfaces as their interfaces may lead users has no resp
ect whereby the can easily using any surfaces including others back as projector...can u imagine how rude it is..???!! Furthermore, it’s scared to believe that if people use technology in their lives too much, there will be a point where they would not be able to do anything without it. Yeap..people will depends solely with this technology and become lazy to make some effort to think by themselves.. so, "Renung-renungkan, and selamat beramal" (~.^)
